Here I go

I did it found the van I wanted to get started on. I am a new member and have been digging throught this site for months posted a couple of times to get an idea on which van I wanted. Found this 2013 ford E150 eb with 5.7 liter cargo van with 11,000 miles. The plan is to get it together to travel in the next few years with my wife and dog. I have a long list of ideas but figure I would start slow and work up to some of the bigger issues along the way.
My first plan is wheels I want to level the van and put a little larger tires under it. Have look real hard to find a simple solution to lifting and or leveling and have not found that. The van has RSC control so I need to work with that also. So talked to Larry at action van (very helpful) about a 4" kit big problem is I am Florida so getting him to it is not possible so found a guy local that said he would do it no problem. Plan on putting 17x 9 -12 wheels on and then going to either 285/70-17 or 265/70-17 not sure which. I will be doing mostly high with little off road parks etc. also will pull boat but only around Florida no long trips.
Does anybody have any experince with a setup like this pros cons about ride mpg etc. I have found the guy who did a great write up the lift and a follow up on tires which was very helpful just looking for a little more information.

Welcome to the forum and vans in general---hope to see photos of your project and its progress.

Just a friendly note saying paragraphs are your friends---makes for easier reading and replies too.

Re: Here I go

I'm local to Larry/Action Van and have been over to his shop a few times when I was considering a lift kit before I found a van (I ended up with a 4WD drive so no lift kit needed.)

His setups deal with RSC with a special Pittman arm.

I have about 4" of lift and with 285/70-17's and have trimmed the rear fender wells and still have some rubbing, so these may be tight. I suspect that 265/70-17's will work OK. Of course my front end is completely different than 2WD but it's another data point. There are quite a few threads here on lift kits and tire fitment; the search button is your friend.

Re: Here I go

I haven't looked into the specifications in a long time on a E150 but are you sure they make a 5.7 liter motor and are you sure they have an extended body for the 150???

you can easily overload and E150,the suspension isn't very stout at all. be sure the total ratings are up to your needs.

if I recall correctly the E150 is lower then 250 and 350's so if you're really stuck on those sizes try them on the van before purchasing.

Re: Here I go

Thanks for the input Larry is hooking me up with a 2" kit which all I need for what I am doing with the van. I will be going with some 17" and either 265 or 275 /70 will keep you posted.

And Bbasso thanks for the interest yes it is a EB f150 with 5.7 it was loaded got the window sticker on all the options. And it has the 8600lbs rating. I have it striped down already to start working on it.

Wbp: You may want to check the window sticker for the engine displacement......or the sticker under the hood........

I think the extended E150 returned in 2009. It has an 8600 GVWR so its really the same as the earlier year's E250 vans.
