SB raised roof on a EB van

I have access to a free std wheel base fixed roof
Anyone ever installed one on a extended wheel base van?

Too goofy looking and hard to seal it I would assume.

Any thoughts ?

Re: SB raised roof on a EB van

I'm confused about this whole wheelbase thing. I have an extended length E250 but what's an extended wheel base? The wheels are farther apart? If so, does that change the roof length too? If so, doesn't that make it an extended length? I hear extended bed then I hear extended length. Other than that, I don't have an answer for your question.

Re: SB raised roof on a EB van

As far as I know, Ford makes two lengths of van body, both with the same wheelbase. So there is "RB" (regular body) and "EB" (extended body).

Ford does make longer wheelbases in cutaways and the like, and may make custom body lengths for limo bodies or something, but for normal vans, just the RB and EB on the one wheelbase (136" or 138", I forget which it is). The cutaways can have that wheelbase, or one around 156" or one around 176" - but those don't have regular van bodies.

Chevy makes two wheelbase lengths in their van. I'm not as familiar with them, so I don't know if you can get the long body on the regular wheelbase, or if long body and long wheelbase always coincide (they do would be my guess).

I have seen a short top on a long van. The front leading edge fit as it was intended which left space at the rear where a short custom roof rack was installed.Photoshopped example

shenrie : I'm glad the pictures help. "A picture is worth a thousand words" . I'm a visual person too , I'd rather see it than hear about it..

Agreed one hundred million percent---and that's not hype!

Images leave little to interpretation, verbal descriptions not always as clear as the writer hopes. Me, being that "writer" from time-to-time know its tougher to write about than just show it.

Thanks from me, too!

Re: SB raised roof on a EB van

I kinda dig the look of the rear rooftop storage. Put a few Jerry cans up there and hit the road.

On the other hand if the short top was set to the back, you could have a front roof rack that was easily accessible from inside the van. Just unzip the front window and you could load and unload easily.
