Six Card Charlie's E-350 Build Thread

I've been lurking this forum for awhile now.

I finally bought a van after about 2 years of research and making sure this is what I want to do.

It's a 2004 6.0 diesel.
I decided to buy stock and dot he build myself so that I am more connected with the vehicle. And not as broke haha..

My plan is to go full on SHTF van.

I am looking forward to sharing my progress as well as viewing yours!

-Chuck

Sometimes finding the right starting point can be difficult; been there, done that.

Also looking forward to your progress!

Re: Six Card Charlie's E-350 Build Thread

I searched for a 7.3 with low miles for about a year before I settled with the 6.0.
Still hoping to find a 7.3 one day.

Re: Six Card Charlie's E-350 Build Thread

Sorry to everyone on the forum,
My build is a very slow one. I've been dealing with mechanics as a priority before starting with the interior and exterior.
I got around to plasti dipping my bumpers and grill. As well as adding a light bar.

Everyone keeps making fun of me because of how small the light bar is.. But I like the size. It's small enough to actually get used.

I promise to upload photos of my interior process soon! The fact of the matter is I keep changing my floor plans. But I should be staring my bed soon.

Re: Six Card Charlie's E-350 Build Thread

If your chosen light bar is working for YOU---screw the rest of 'em---it ain't their van anyway!

Taking time to think out your design, perhaps mocking it up in the real world is smart----I'm sure we've all re-thunk something long after a perfect design was realized inside our vans. Hindsight is always 20/20 but with our projects here that can be expensive too.

Trust me when I say rushing into something on one of these builds can and does cost time and money we could have spent better elsewhere.

^^^ totally agree.

we put our penthouse on 2 years ago and fabbed up a bed. we were going to camp in it for a season then build it out. glad i didnt, cause our plan has changed several times since then. i think weve reached a final decision on how we wanna build now, but now i cant quit camping long enough to tear into and really get the project moving along, lol.

But that's the good part----your "minimalist/temporary build" is working well enough to be useful so that alone can inform the real and final design. Over two seasons you've probably established what's an absolute need, which things are luxuries and where to store it all---that's progress all in itself.
