Undervan tire carrier-photo

Would someone be willing to take a photo of the set up of the reinforcement put in place after SMB removes the under van tire carrier.

I'm curious as to whether they take the whole thing out or just cut the front of it out and leave the rear "bar" with two rivets in place for structural integrity. Or do they add new steel?

I'm trying to shave a few pounds and that's a big chunk of steel.

thanks in adavance

Tom

Re: Undervan tire carrier-photo

Do they remove the carrier even when not putting an underfloor storage in?

This might help, see p.2 ... looks like it's built to go around something.

Re: Undervan tire carrier-photo

On my van at least (regular body 1995 E250), the tire carrier takes up a whole lot of real estate. I can't see getting a box under there while the tire carrier is in place. I'm told (on another forum) that the newer vans that the set up has not changed.
