Lights... PIAA, Hella, etc etc
Just wondering what the best options, choices are out there these days that everyone is going with for their SMB's these days? And why you chose that.
There are brands, there are light bars, standard lights etc. What works the best, what don't people like, all of the above.
I plan to do some night time off-roading, nothing to crazy, but LIGHT IT UP! is what I say.
I love specifics, brand, part numbers, pictures, bring it on!
Again thank you all!!!

I'd go for a name brand, LED off road lightbar, something like VisionX or Rigid Industries.

Hadn't come across them before. Nice to see another quality manufacturer. Lifetime warranty is nice, but I do wish it said where they were made.

LED are great for offroading or slow speed driving, HID are the best for high speed driving since they are brighter, so you can see further. I made comparison and went for HID LightForce. I'm really happy with! By the way, the 170mm diameter fit in the Aluminess front bumper.

I had three Hella HIDs on my front Aluminess, and was never that impressed with their performance.
I have two LightForce lights (non HID) on my Bronco and I like them primarily because of their adaptability.

Re: Lights... PIAA, Hella, etc etc
Most SMB's are fairly slow on the trail compared to sand rails and what not. I love my VisionX light bar but it lacked side exposure. So I added LED lighting on the quarter so I could see going into a turn. I have halogen light up front but the LED's wash them out. But they do help in seeing things off in the distance. The problem with long range lights is the vehicle needs to be pointed in that direction for them to be of use. Long straight runs are rare for me but in those situations I do like a long range light. I did Mengel Pass at night. I wouldn't think of doing something like that W/O a good set of LED's.

Re: Lights... PIAA, Hella, etc etc
Been researching for a set of lights to install in my new Aluminess front bumper. Looking for a versatile Fog pattern. Interested in LEDs but I'm open to suggestions. Just curious what the current hot setup is for the stock bumper location - Hella, PIAA, Lightforce, Rigid???? Will add a dedicated set of Driving lights at a later date

I have looked at other brands varying in price, and the Rigid pattern seems the most useful. Others tend to hotspot up close to the van, so even though they still provide ample light out far, it doesn't seem that way because the hot-spot makes your pupils constrict. It probably wouldn't matter as much for roof-mounted lights, but for grill-mounts the pattern really matters more than overall output.
