'99 Chevy Quigley: what to do fix during engine swap?

Just picked up a 1999 Quigley 4x4. This is my first 4x4 van. The 5.7 Vortec is being replaced with a factory Chevy crate engine. While the mechanic is doing this swap are there any items that are MUST REPLACE items?

I already figured on serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat.

Anything else to look out for during the swap or after while I'm enjoying the vehicle? Quick fixes or tips?

You should definitely use new accessories like water pump, belts, etc. If it has a ton of miles, you might want to see if its a good time to rebuild the transmission.

I would definitely pay extra for a new spider injector vs re-using your existing one. It's a problematic part, and when its in the van its a huge PITA to replace.

Not sure on parts to replace, but if it was me I would do everything to add more power while its out. Performance pulleys, electric fan, consider headers, and throttle body spacer. Any bolt on that works basically. Update/replace core ignition components like spark plugs and wires and maybe a new coil. An oversized oil pan would help too, but need to be carful it doesn't get in the way of the 4wd components.

Curious......did they have to separate the body from chassis to remove the engine?
