Tire inflation system to get in my darn garage

Are there any tire inflation systems that I don't have to get in and out of the car for? I am thinking that if I could lower the height of the car by 6 inches I could get into my garage. I think the cost of an inflation system would be cheaper than modifying the garage. If I do have to get in and out of the car, depending on how simple the hookups are and how automatic the system is, I think that would still work out. Any problem with a 315x70r17 or a 285x70r17 going almost flat to get in the garage?

Are there air suspension options too that I might consider?

In addition to a possible price dvantage of an inflation system is more back country antics, but I suppose one other option is a garage system.

any ideas?

Re: Tire inflation system to get in my darn garage

My rig is 91 inches with the 285/70r17 tires. They have 8 inches of sidewall. So I probably can lower the car 4-5 inches only. The garage door is 81 inches tall. I probably need 14 inches to make it safe. I think the inside of the garage is 98 inches off the floor. Why do people make garages so small!?!?!

Now, if the garage can cheaply be made 10 inches taller and I get an inflation system, then maybe this works. Wouldn't make sense if the cost make the garage 14 inches taller is the same as 10 inches.

I'm guessing a garage based compressor with an octopus connection could be quick connected to the 4 tires and inflate them all at once pretty fast.

I don't think it would be good for the tires if it was parked with them down, if you can even get down 6". That means you would have to deflate then drive-in and then re-inflate them (assuming there's room inside.) That's a 20min operation even with primo equipment and there would certainly be the day that you forget to deflate them on the way out.

I don't know what your real estate situation is but if possible I'd look into expanding the garage or getting a drive in shelter if it wouldn't piss off the neighbors or the HOA.

I think $$$ invested in buildings will pay off better than $$ in a trick inflation system.

Or you could just throw in towel and let it stand in the rain like we do.

Is it possible to lower or dig out the floor? May be easier than altering the door frame.

OK, way off topic here, but you just reminded me of this little animation Jage made of me a long time ago. (Click for Flash video.)

If the roof didn't leak and i didn't live in north bend, WA which rains even more than Seattle I'd consider leaving it out in the rain! It just bugs me that I have a 3 car garage and only one car that fits

Ain't gonna happen. Sling a tarp over your rig.

Are you sure that raising the garage is out of the question?

Re: Tire inflation system to get in my darn garage

We're just down the road in Sammamish, not far away from North Bend. Our SMB doesn't fit in the garage either, so in the meantime while we're deciding whether to spend the $ to build a high carport for it we bought this van cover: http://www.amazon.com/Budge-VRB-3-Barri ... rd%3Ae-250

We're hoping it will keep the moss from growing on the exterior. We had my wife's silver Subaru parked in the same spot last winter and by spring it had a distinctly green tint.
