Warn Locking Hubs Failure

I have had the same failure with my Warn Premium Hubs Several times now. The Internal Snap Ring comes out of its place when locked. From that point on when I go go lock the hubs the gears get pushed in and do not lock properly. I have taken them apart several times now and put the snap ring back in its place. The last time this happened I contacted Warn and they sent me two new snap rings but the problem persists.

Has anybody else had this happen. I see the warn hubs on a lot of van's so I assume other people are not having the same problem I am having. Unfortunately I am not the first owner so I can't send the hubs back to Warn.

Van is an 03 7.3 Quigly by the way

Re: Warn Locking Hubs Failure

Ujoint Chris, I am going to be in Brevard for Christmas. You put Warn hubs on your conversions right? I may pick up a new set while I am down there.

Have you tried turning the snap ring over? One side is rounded and can come out more easily; the othe side is square edged and harder to pop out.

Re: Warn Locking Hubs Failure

Is it the back side of the hub? I've seen this happen a lot, the snap ring pops out of the hub and it basically comes apart. Sometimes they can be put back together but the real fix is to open up that groove so the ring sits in there better. Or replace---- Send me pics and I'll have a set here for you @ x-mas time.

Re: Warn Locking Hubs Failure

This has happened to me twice now! Unfortunately I only find out it's not locked in when I'm sliding backwards dow the driveway............ does Warn have a better fix than turning over the snap ring?? The last time this happened I replaced the hubs.......

Re: Warn/Dyantrac Hub Snap Ring Failure

I have had the same problem with the Dynatrac ProRock D60. The snap ring that sits in a grove at the end of the spindle (first thing you see when you take off the Warn hub) has popped out twice. Last month I checked to see if any water had gotten into the hub. When I spread the snap ring it broke.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement?
How do you open up the grove that the snap ring sits in without creating more problems?

Re: Warn Locking Hubs Failure

I flipped the ring and put them back together. Drove from Mass to Colorado and back to NC since then. Hubs were locked the whole time. In and out of 4wd dozens of times. They haven't failed again yet. Unfortunately I think it is only a matter of time.
On another note I stopped by Ujoint today to have some work done while I am in the area. I am lucky that I pass by Asheville on a regular basis. They are the best. Thanks Chris!
