Reviews on "newer" suspension upgrades fr Sportsmobile West

Hey Guys,

I have a 2006 EB350 Sportsmobile 4x4 Voyager top and I'm looking to upgrade the suspension to address some problems I've been experiencing with overall feel and ride especially when I hit speedbumps. The gap b/w the front axle and Bump stop is less than 1 inch and I'm starting to see some sagging in the leafs.

I spoke with Peter at Sportmobile West and he said that after 2008, they upgraded their suspension and just recently they added the Fox Shocks and dampner. He said that the Fox shocks are revalved for the sportsmobile and has also said that owners are really liking the setup.

I wanted to poll the group here and see if I can get any feedback on this setup. I'm looking at full Deaver setup(~$4k) v.s the new SPortsmobile setup(springs and shocks) ~$3K.

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated!

-Alex

I'd be curious if Peter told you how the springs are different. I was aware the shocks are available now. I didn't know they also had a modified spring since our older builds. Also I assume that ~$3K quote mentioned was parts and labor installed by SMB. Appreciate any reply. Pat

I might be wrong but I think SMB is still using Betts for their spring packs after switching from OME in 2007 or so. http://www.bettsspring.com/leaf-springs

Hopefully they are not still using the same stock leaf setup that the van originally came with on the rear.

A vote for Deavers but I bet the latest iteration of the SMB 4WD conversion with Fox shocks is pretty good and a huge improvement over the package from 10 years ago.

Yes the 3k price was for the parts and labor and if you wanted to add the dampner then it would be roughly 3400.

Re: Reviews on "newer" suspension upgrades fr Sportsmobile W

Thanks, My front spring bushings are shot which needs to be addressed soon. I have not had any cracking issues like some have had on the front pack but they are not "straight" as they started out as. I still have the original shocks @ 77K miles and it would be great to get rid of the rear lift blocks. I could use a suspension make over. Thanks for bringing this topic up. I'm not in the mood to go to Fresno but shipping to a local shop would seem to be a good option for me. I hope which ever option you choose works out and delivers the expected results.

I've sent emails and left voice mails and have not heard back. I would love to hear what solution They're developing for the 4x4 Sportsmobile but I'm sure they're extremely busy.

Just drop by the shop - I'll be there this afternoon (Friday), all day Saturday and Monday. Glen is there six of seven days a week also.
