Adding 1" lift to a Quigley van?

I put in a set of 285's onto my 2002 Quigley'd E350SD and now I get a tiny bit of running at the back of the front wheel wells. It only happens when I'm turning and I hit a substantial bump at the same time but it's happened a few times already and I wasn't even trying hard trails. I'd like to eventually trim/roll the wells or build adjustable control arms to push the axle forward a hair, but in the meantime while I try to decide what route to pursue, I'd like to just throw in a set of 1" spacers front and rear.

Would any old F350 spacers work with this Quigley front end or do I need some special spacers for some reason? I can't forsee any problem but I figured I'd ask here because I'm sure one or two of you have done this before...

Hi,

as far as I have in mind are the F Series Coils different. Quigley uses stock van coils. So if you´re looking for Van spacers you should be lucky.

Adding 1" lift to a Quigley van?

Or try Moog CC880S variable rate springs, should give you an 1" or so lift from stock

Re: Adding 1

I priced out some spacers from a local shop and they wanted $200 for them... I also checked out the price of those Moog CC880s springs online and I can get them for $150... Cheaper and they're progressive so that's a pretty sweet deal if they work.

Did some more poking around on here today to read up about these CC880S springs and I also came across some mention of CC860 springs. Can anyone confirm for me what ones I should be looking for before I pull the trigger and get them shipped here?

My van is an 02 E350SD with the 7.3 in it. Quigley 4x4 and all I need is 1" lift...

http://www.amazon.com/Moog-CC880S-Varia ... rds=CC880S

Springs are less than $100 on amazon.

Re: Adding 1

Did some poking around on the internet yesterday to try and compare the MOOG springs with the factory Ford springs and I thought I'd just share this here for future reference.

Looks like the MOOG springs provide lift simply due to their higher spring rate. The installed lengths and free lengths look very similar to the NAPA factory replacement spring specs I could find but the load rating is higher. I'll give these MOOGs a shot and see how they do.

MOOG CC880S
Super Duty Replacement coil spring
ID: 4.00"
Bar Diameter: 0.81"
Spring Rate: 652.00 Lbs Per Inch
Load: 3006.00 Lbs
Installation Height: 12.00"
Free Height: 16.60"
End Type 1: Pigtail
End Type 2: Pigtail
Spring Type: Variable Rate

These are the specs off the NAPA recommended factory replacement spring for my 2002 Ford E350SD with 7.3L engine:
ID: 3.98"
Bar Diameter: 0.78"
Spring Rate: 590.00 Lbs Per Inch
Load: 1893.00 Lbs
Installation Height: 13.00"
Free Height: 16.21"
End Type 1: Pigtail
End Type 2: Pigtail
Spring Type: Constant Rate

These seem to be the factory Ford spring codes and their associated load ratings:
Front Coil Spring Codes
PV = 3900 lb. (original 1995 4x2)
RV = 4050 lb.
UV = 4380 lb. (from 98 Quigley 4x4, I used these) F2UA-5310-UA
VV = 4600 lb.

Some info I found over on thedieselstop relating to the factory Ford spring codes:
Quote:
Look on the Federal Certification Label then look under "Spr". The label is on the lower doorpost behind the driver's door. It includes VIN, tires size and PSI, date of assembly, and lots of codes, including paint codes, axle code and spring code.

The spring code is probably a two-character code, such as VA or VB. The first character is the front springs and the second character is the rear springs.

For 7.3L pickups, rear spring codes were A, B, and C. Generally, A = F-250 (6,084 lbs. @ground), B = F-350 SRW (6,830 lbs. @ground) , and C = F-350 DRW (8,250 lbs. @ ground). However some F-250s have rear spring code B.

Front coil spring code on 4x2 diesels was probably L = 4,850 pounds @ground. A few 4x2s might have spring code K = 4,550 pounds @ground.

Front leaf spring codes on 4x4 diesels were U, V and X.
U = 4,800 pounds @ground
V = 5,200
X = 6,000

Some tiny few pickups had front leaf spring code W = 5,600 pounds @ground, but as a rule only F-450s came with front leaf spring code W.

The code X front springs were only on pickups with the snowplow pkg, were normal on diesel F-450 4x4s, and raised the front end up on pickups about 1.5" compared to the code V springs. However, lots of guys replaced their stock code U or V springs to get that slight lift and to firm up the front end

Re: Adding 1

I'll be interested to hear what you think about these if you pull the trigger. I want to do the whole RIP package but sounds like there is quite a wait. These could be a good first step that is quick and easy.

Exactly my thoughts too. I'd love the whole RIP kit, but with the CDN dollar being so low (I'm in Alberta) and Agile being so backlogged, I think I'll go with these springs for now. I'll hopefully be able swing by Agile's shop on a trip next year or something for the shocks.
