Warn M12000 and synthetic line
Anyone running synthetic on their Warn M12000s? If so, can you list the specs? I had to move my winch to clean a nest in my bumper and noticed the fair-lead is rusting and was thinking of switching line.

Re: Warn M12000 and synthetic line
Running synthetic from Olympus off-road on my powerplant 1200, looks like they are back ordered here's the specs
http://olympusoffroad.3dcartstores.com/ ... p_198.html
swapped out the roller fair lead with a solid unit from warn. There are some good ropes out there, warn, amsteel and masterpull come to mind, just mind the load rating. Olympus lines were rated at 30,000. Not sure if there's a standard for testing.

REF,
What a great price. It would be worth the wait. I will have to go with the blue or black color.

#30,000? And for that price? That is a great deal. I would think you could hang your SMB from a tree with a 30k line.

FWIW, both Thor from Viking Offroad and Bill Burke (people I trust) both recommend a roller fairlead, even with synthetic line.

Doing a quick search on that brand didn't come up with much. Whether that's good news or bad news is up to each person to decide.

Warn M12000 and synthetic line
Hey BroncoHauler and for anyone else, just to clarify my swapping to a hawse fairlead, yes, roller fairleads are fine for synthetic rope, personal choice I guess. I swapped out my roller because it had been used with my steel cable that roughed up the rollers pretty good, that would not be good for the new synthetic to get all chewed up, it was recommended to me to swap it for that reason. Whether you go with a roller or hawse style is up to you, just as long as you don't use your new synthetic line without either swapping the fairlead out that was used with your steel cable or making sure you de-burr it really well. Plus it was a weight thing with me too, those rollers are heavy!
These Arachni lines from Olympus offroad are big in the jeep world, there are some reviews found doing a Google search, most that come up are jeep forums. Should see about doing a group buy, might be a while since they're out of stock and seems they're in high demand.

Masterpull on mine. Planned to add synthetic compatible rollers to my fairlead but never got round to it.

Re: Warn M12000 and synthetic line
daveb,
I like the black rollers. I am going to see if I can get a deal at Expo, if not, then I will order something.

Re: Warn M12000 and synthetic line
I'm using synthetic line from Thor (I forget the spec), and roller fairlead with delrin rollers. All good.
