04 SMB w/our 4x4 conversion

Finished up this beauty last week, great little rig! Has our 6" kit on 35" BFG's. RSC upgrade, front bumper, Bilstein 5100's.

That's a great looking rig. I like the earthy colors, and the very capable but slightly understated look.

What's the RSC upgrade?

This is a 2004 with RSC?

Our RSC upgrade can be added to any of our axles to get the bigger brakes, serviceable wheel bearings, knuckles, high clearance tie rod, 35 spline stub shafts, etc. When we add the RSC parts to a non RSC equipped van it does't add the electronics, just the hard parts.

Here's a pic of the RSC specific parts

Cool.....

Are those F series superduty rotors and calipers?

Looks like the rotors are drilled for both 8 x 6.5" and 8 x 170mm....?

Re: 04 SMB w/our 4x4 conversion

Chris, by "any of our axles" I presume you mean the venerable Dana60 and not a Dynatrac ProRock60? Or, are the parts interchangeable?

Oldbonesclimber did the swap on a Dynatrac front axle but I think got most of the parts from Dynatrac. The swap to bigger brakes will also necessitate 17" or bigger wheels.

Nice looking van!

Rotors are 02-04 F450/550. Calipers are 08/up E series. This kit pictured is from when we used to do both 8 on 6.5 and 8 on 170mm patterns. We just do 8 on 170mm now so the replacement parts are an over the shelf item.

Correct, our axles are 99-04 style. Stage1, Stage2, etc. I have more geeky details on our axle page.

http://www.ujointoffroad.com/axles.html

These parts will fit the Dynatrac D60's that were on SMB's before they offered the big brake upgrade. We tried to mock up the rotors and calipers on an 05 SMB recently and it would't work without changing the knuckles.

I'm curious why I'd want to do this. Is this basically future proofing the axles for a newer van?

Love the van, as usual! Not sure it's understated either.
