Quigley Ford Transit Conversion for 2016

I finally ordered a Ford Transit 2016 3500 3.5L Twin Turbo Ecoboost to be built in Kansas City end of this month. From there it travels to Pennsylvania for the Quigley 4X4 conversion. From there it goes to Austin Texas for Sportsmobile Texas to do their work. As far as I know this will be the first 4X4 Transit Sportsmobile. Because of this I fear I will have to write the book on what this might mean. Having said this I have the following questions for any of you who care to chime in...

1. Bushwacker does not make a fender flare yet for the Transit. Anyone know where I might try to get someone to custom make such a think or borrow from another different vehicle to make fit?
2. The Ford Transit Bolt pattern for the wheels is 5X160. Most cool wheels (KMC, Fuel etc) for off road do not even make a 5X160 bolt pattern wheel so does anyone out there know of any cool aftermarket wheels that are 5X160? Can you direct me?
3. Tire size remains a mystery. The stock wheel is a pitiful 215/60R16. Quigley has gotten Ford to approve a 245/65R16. I am hoping to squeeze a 265/70R17 on there. Anyone have anyinformation on wheel size limits that have been field tested.

This is gonna be cool... the turbo gas engine is amazing and makes the diesel Sprinter vans seem like decrepit dogs..

I saw a Sprinter 4x4 at SMB West with 265/70/17 BFG KO2s that looked pretty good. I asked Quiqley what the options were for tire size, but haven't heard back.

Steve,

Did you mean Transit or Sprinter? I am not sure that the Sprinter experience will translate to my Transit.

Thanks

No, I was talking about the Sprinter I saw in CA, but I am hoping Quigley will be able to use something similar. I did try to zoom this picture up from the Quigley demo van in Moab, but not sure what size it is. Looked like 255 something, but my eyes weren't that good.

Looks like maybe 255/65-16?

Great photo but I can't read it either. Quigley told me it was a 265. Then they told me that FOrd only lets them advertise use of the 245. Looking at this photo it sure looks like the 265 would bounce into that wheel well with a bumpy fast ride through some off-road stuff.

Thanks Bill. Will do. If you want to take our conversations off-line you can by emailing me at johncamoriano@yahoo.com. My transit will be built on September 21 and Quigly will converted to 4 x 4 in November. The plotting and planning is almost as fun as getting the real thing.

Subscribing!

Pop top or just an attic with a bed? Or something else?

The prospect of no pop top made the econoline more flexible for me. Tall when I need it short when I need it.
