The only thing that will make this van (or any other van) worth $XX is someone willing to pay that amount.

Maybe he decided what it was worth to him and priced it above that? Setting a price is difficult...........too high and no one responds...............too low and the wrong people respond........and we all hate to leave money on the table either way.

I'm guessing it may be a little high, maybe not - depends on condition, options, etc.

Not sure a new engine is a positive, at least not without explanation. Part malfunction, lack of maintenance,...? Makes me wonder.

I'd rather buy a van with a disclosed "new engine" like this one than one with no disclosed problems.

For example, would this have been more attractive if he hadn't mentioned the "new engine" and isn't a new engine better than a van with an old engine that could shortly need a new one?

Definitely. Especially with the 6.0.

What would concern me is the possibility the engine was replaced because of a poor maintenance protocol. Without knowing why it was replaced, I would be concerned that other parts of the vehicle could have been neglected as well.

Same here. I would consider that a huge plus. It doesn't take poor maintenance to need a new 6.0. Maybe he lost the EGR cooler somewhere without phone service and couldn't tow it in? Or maybe they didn't know it was leaking. That happens A LOT. Once the EGR cooler leaks, you turn off the van, it sucks in coolant and lifts the head the next time you try to start it. If any coolant made its way into the oil pan, replacement or rebuild is the only proper repair. If the oil were ever changed at a a Quickie-lube, they love to top off coolant without asking using "universal" green which quickly turns to tapioca beads in the 6.0.
