Interesting -- Non-PH-or-Voyager-roofed RB30 1997 SMB - eBay

***Not mine/No Affiliation***

This is a new one on me!
Full RB30 layout, but without either a Penthouse or Voyager roof. (Still retains un-modified, original-height Ford E250 steel roof.)

No Propane. Looks clean and still a nice van.
Definitely unique (and odd) without either a PH or Voyager top on it.

Bidding at $6100 at time I'm posting this, 5 days left on auction.
Will be very curious to see what this non-PH/non-Voyager SMB ends up closing at (and see how the market values this kind of a build).

If it was a VW, it'd be known as a TinTop.
Quite useable vehicle.

Am surprised there are no photos of the interior.

There are now - maybe they were added. White cabinets and the "way teal" upholstery.

I agree. I saw that and was wondering what it would sell for. An interesting exercise in seeing what the "Penthouse premium" is. It seems the PH adds value over the value of a fixed, extended-height top, for example.

You can get a fixed top from many places, and in several shapes including some B "traditional" RV manufacturers and previous van-busses. You can only get a penthouse from GTRV, Sportsmobile, and ColoradoCamperVans afik. The benefit of an SMB voyager or cruiser top is not the top, but the custom layout/build inside of it.

Also electric PH > sprung PH for what that's worth...

If anyone wasn't still actively following the auction, I just checked:

It closed at $11,100.

Interesting reference point, as BrianW was mentioning, to gauge the "price premium" for a PH or Voyager roof vs. a steel-original-roofed van like this one (the SMB equivalent of a "tin top.")
