Re: 2003 E250 FREE

That could be a good deal if the rest of the van is in good shape and you did not have to transport it back for the lower 48.

Re: 2003 E250 FREE

The description is certainly succinct.

Don't have to worry about mileage

Re: 2003 E250 FREE

Probably $800-1000 to get it down to Seattle by barge from Juneau.

Why not have an engine put in in AK and then drive it back?

Getting anything repaired in S/E Alaska is difficult and expensive. No doubt there are shops that would be happy to install one, but most likely the engine would have to be shipped North by barge and trucked to the shop, adding more cost. Without seeing the van it's hard to say if this would be cost effective, but one might be able to put in a bunch of 85/90wt to give it enough oil pressue to at least drive long enough to make it to the ferry.

Or get it towed to the ferry, drive it on and off and then tow from there.

Re: 2003 E250 FREE

I just talked to the owner. The van has about 75K miles, no rust or body damage. It was a passenger van that has all the seats removed but is very clean. It was part of a fleet, and the best one they had. He thinks it will make it to the ferry in Haines, but is headed off for a week so can't move it now. I'm off for ten days on a charter, but if we can connect when I get to Juneau I hope to have him deliver it for me. I guess I need to start looking for a place to work on it. I'm hoping I can pull the pan and repair any spun rod bearings for at least a short term fix. It's a 5.4L................
