Monitoring for the 6.0 PSD - scanguage

Hello,

I'd like start monitoring my 6.0 to make sure things are healthy until I am ready to undergo a bulletproofing program. In the meantime I am going to flush the coolant and switch to a proper ELC and add a coolant filter.

Is this the correct model of scanguage I should buy for my 2009 6.0 e350?
http://www.scangauge.com/products/scangaugeii/

Thanks,
DJM

Yep. And if you buy it here: http://www.bulletproofdiesel.com/ScanGa ... 000073.htm, they've already typed in the 6.0 PSD X-gauge stuff for you.

^^^ what a cool option. anyone know of anything like that for the 7.3's??

not specifically that one as its dialed in for the 6.0, but is that the same model i would buy for the 7.3 as well? first one i bought at campingworld a little while back said it was for diesels, but the plug was not even close.

ScanGauge II should work on all '96 and newer vehicles. You can swap it back and forth too. The only thing you would lose ar the vehicle specific X-gauge commands which have to be manually programmed.

I've use the one in my '01 Excursion to read codes on our '05 VW Passat TDI.

Here's a link to the normal 6.0 operating ranges. I keep a printout of this, nice to have this as a reference in case I have some issues on the road.

I'm not intelligent enough to understand all of these parameters, I have a 6.0 and are already tracking cooland and oil temperature. I hear I should let the turbo cool down for a few mins after a long run.

What is the parameter that would tell me that the turbo reached its normal temp and i can turn off the engine.

You need to know the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) which means installing a pyrometer gauge. The scanguage can't do it because there is no built in temp probe provided by Ford. The more expensive Edge Insight can do it but you have to add the optional EGT probe.

Re: Monitoring for the 6.0 PSD - scanguage

Along with my Scanguage I had an analogue EGT gauge by Autometer installed on the pillar just below my grab handle.
