Re: what does "bullet proof" engine mean?

I've just taken this to mean "reliable".

Yes, I believe that the term has mainly been used in reference to the 6.0 diesel, in as much as you can have "reliable" and "6.0" mentioned in the same sentence. There are several "kits" out there addressing the most common issues with the 6.0L, sometime referred to as "bullet proof" kits.

Bulletproof Diesel is a company in AZ that has developed most of the upgrades that fix known problems with certain diesel platforms.

Great products but not cheap.

Re: what does "bullet proof" engine mean?

Sometimes people throw that word around when the work that has been done is far from "bulletproof" We've worked on few 6.0's that supposedly had this work, not the case at all. Unfortunately some people don't understand all of the terms so they get taken advantage of.

I would consider a "bulletproofed" 6.0 to at least have their EGR & oil cooler installed. There are many other things that need to be addressed with a 6.0 but we don;t need to get into that!
