Ball Joint Replacement on SMB 4x4

I have a 2006 SMB E350 diesel with the SMB 4x4 system with 75,000 miles on it. I am getting quotes to get the ball joints replaced. Has anyone else with the SMB 4x4 had to have theirs replaced yet? 75,000 miles seems like low mileage to need them replaced but they are definitely loose.

Re: Ball Joint Replacement on SMB 4x4

you got 10K miles more than me! I had posted the same question about a year ago. I just went with stock replacement parts.

Mine were gone at 25k. Dynatracs for nearly 50k and counting. Only way to go.

Re: Ball Joint Replacement on SMB 4x4

Have heard that ford vans in general have a problem keeping ball joints....even the 2wd ones.

Replaced mine on the chevy at 130K.

Re: Ball Joint Replacement on SMB 4x4

I have an 06 also. Just replaced the ball joints at 84,000 miles. Went stock, like Pat.

If I'd read up on this I might have gone Dynatrac too. If I'm still alive when it hits 160K I'll try them!

Dodge trucks have a much worse reputation than Ford vans or the trucks for that matter.
