Props to Peoria Ford, AZ

I took my van to Peoria Ford in AZ yesterday for an oil change because they are an Amsoil dealer and I am running the Amsoil by-pass kit wih Amsoil. My Service consultant was Justin James.

After completing the oil change, Justin noticed the techs had not charged the extra for Amsoil on the invoice (before I saw it). He went to find the tech to confirm. Sure enough, the tech missed it and had used Ford's diesel oil.

He returned with the tech to inform me of the mistake and offered to drain and re-fill with Amsoil. However, I had supplied the filters because they couldn't source them and I didn't have another set.

We then agreed that I would simply run the Ford oil for about 5k miles and return for them to change the oil with Amsoil. This oil change was free of charge.

I was VERY impressed with Justin's proactiveness and honesty in dealing with the mistake. Of course I also appreciated that there didn't even seem to be a thought of me paying anything for the error.

Cool. I haven't had much luck with the Ford service writers in Flagstaff. In one case, they informed me when I was chasing down alternator problems that mine was PCM controlled when it's not, and in the other they double-charged me for a fuel filter change. Honest mistakes I guess but the best bet if I have a question is to try and talk to the actual mechanic doing the work.

Yea, finding someone good to work on the van is a challenge for sure. Expertise (especially with the 6.0L) seems to be few and far between.

The tech noticed my slight bed plake leak. They quoted me $100 to fix it.

Come to think of it, maybe I should have jumped all over that!

TwoVans,

I have had great luck with Strictly Diesel in North Phoenix. They know the 6.0 and 7.3 like the back of their hands. I have been pleased with the work so far.
