Re: Oil filter?

External transmission filter. There is no filter in the trans itself, just a screen which is replaceable. Around 2008 Ford changed the transmission pan to a deeper one which allowed for a full internal filter. That was when they dropped the external filter you're talking about.

Re: Oil filter?

I replace that filter every 30K miles when I drain the trans pan and refill.

Re: Oil filter?

So, conceivably, if one had a deep Mag-Hytec pan, one could install a 2008 filter in one's pan and eliminate one's external filter that rubs on one's front driveshaft if one were so inclined to spend more of one's money on one's SMB?

Thanks
Do you have a part# or a link for buying this filter?

If I were in your shoes (and I am) I would upgrade to the newer pan and improved internal filter. Next transmission fluid change for me. $58 for the pan is a no brainer.

Part #8C3Z7A194B. The filter is: 8C3Z7A098D

And then presumably you can get rid of the old external filter, although that might mean having to modify the lines.

Good source for all your filters. The diesel fuel filters alone are ~$50 cheaper than the dealer and they are motorcraft and not aftermarket.
