Whistle while you drive

Been driving around America for the last several days with my new Airdog II and regulated return system. One thing I noticed is a very pronounced turbo whistle that wasn't there before. The PowerMax turbos are always a little noisy I understand. I looked at several Powerstroke forums, and apparently turbo whistle is a good thing. Some even tell you how to make it more pronounced. Sometimes I wonder about the diesel culture.

Otherwise it's running great. I ordered an adapter for my Edge CTS unit so I can monitor fuel pressure while driving.

There's a big dodge diesel I think that I see roll around town with a huge single stack, must be at least 8", up through the bed right at the back of the cab, kind of defeats the purpose of having a pickup if half the bed is being taken up by your exhaust.....anyway, I'll stick to my 4" with the DP tuner

Re: Whistle while you drive

I thought it was the SSX turbo itself that makes the sound??? I know they installed the Airdog II but not sure about the return system or is that part of the standard install? At first I was kinda annoyed at the noise. Did you also do that wastegate? Talk about noise, that scared the hell out of me first time I heard it.

Re: Whistle while you drive

It repeats all the way through... but it'll sound good when Zeta's subwoofer bumps it so hard his RubberDuck hood ornament spins... 'specially sitting at a greenlight in deep downtown 'tween all the brick buildings. Dang, I gotta go back and listen to a few more seconds of that l'il ditty!!

Re: Whistle while you drive

Turns out, if you want to whistle you have to pay to play.:

CAC hose popped off the turbo charger. Great fun to fix on a hot engine.
