The check engine light and vibration went away about a minute later and I regained speed automatically. This happened about 3 times over a period of 15-20 miles. Each time lasted about a minute maybe two minutes tops. When I got home I heard the muffler pipe making pinging noises and the engine was making a clicking sound. The noises went away after a few minutes. Really don't hear those noises on a daily basis. I drove the van later that day and I did not have any problems. The spark plugs were changed about 20000 miles ago and the rest of the maintenance is up to date. i am going to take the van to the mechanic but I wanted to get some input beforehand. Thanks.

HAHA, sounds EXACTLY like the typical 5.4 Coil Pack issue.
Run scan and see what the code is, if you're mot familiar. I am more then happy to help.
its a pretty simple fix.......just replaced one in OK and I am from MN
failed at 3AM in OK and I stopped, searched the web for a replacement and waited for them the parts place to open.
