Rear door privacy area

I have been looking for a way to have a "privacy area" by opening the rear doors of my van and thought I found the perfect solution by fiamma:

http://www.outdoorbits.com/fiamma-re...to-p-3020.html

I got all excited and emailed a US fiamma rep to see where I could get one in the US and received the following in reply:

From: Bob Snyder <fiamma1@fiamma.com>

Subject: Re: General request
Dear Tony,

There is a mistake in the catalog. It does not fit the Sprinters. I ordered one from Italy, rented a Sprinter and with my technician tried every way we could for two days to get it to adapt and there is no way. It was reported to Italy of the mistake however the catalogs were already printed and apparently it has not been removed from the website.

Regards,
Bob Snyder

Anyone have any other ideas / leads?

BTW the main reason why we want an extra room is when we go caving, we tend to get very muddy/dirty and the wife wants to keep muddy clothes outside the van while having a place to change. We are also looking at getting a http://www.roadshower.com to mount to our Thuule racks to wash off the mud/grind before we get in the van.

Tony --

Do you live somewhere near water? If so, just about any boat canvas place could make one for you, I would think. They are used to doing one-off enclosures for boat cockpits, etc. Most likely won't be cheap, but should be doable.

Wouldn't a stand-alone, pop-up type of shower enclosure be just as easy? There's a recent thread on these.

Re: Rear door privacy area

This has actually worked out pretty well for us - we can shower right on it and stay out of the dirt altogether.

I agree with the poster who suggested a canvas shop. I bet they could make something better than what you were looking into.

Re: Rear door privacy area

We have gone to the thrift shop and bought several opaque shower curtains that we attach to the rear barn doors with binder clips. This forms a nice enclosure for us to use as either a shower area or mud room. We use a spreader bar between the doors open.

Re: Rear door privacy area

Can those showers fit width wise on the rear of our vans? I love the idea...just would rather mount it width wise all the way at the rear of the van.
