Some notes about 2014 Sprinters...

I am not sure if this is an Engine topic, or general Sprinter chassis, so making an educated guess. Apologies in advance.

If ordering a 2014 Sprinter, they come with the four-cylinder engine standard now. Then V6 is an option. This is across the entire line from the 2500s to the DRW 3500s, so it is advisable to look for option code 6CE, which adds $910 to the price of the vehicle.

There are also some packages Mercedes put together to make ordering groups of things easier.

I would say that the 2014 Sprinter adds some very nice features this year, especially in the driver's safety arena.

I should have searched before I asked. Found it:

Re: Some notes about 2014 Sprinters...

The options for 2014 are great and made it worth the wait. I have one at SMB Texas right now waiting for conversion. The van dealer was very pleased with the blind spot monitoring and it should really help with lane changes when you can't quite see down the side. I think that makes Sprinter the only cargo van available with it as a factory option.

Other minor things: The AUX-in and USB ports are now to the upper right of the steering wheel, and sit horizontally next to a little flat pocket in the dash. The new Audio 15 stock stereo seemed nice, and supports Bluetooth phones with no extra upgrades.

Daylight Running Lamps are also standard (and could be problematic for evening idling at campsites), though the 2014 Owners Manual indicates they can be turned off using the on-screen menu in the dash.

Re: Some notes about 2014 Sprinters...

In my opinion Mercedes needs to offer a one-ton 3500 model with single rear wheels. RAM offers the SRW ProMaster with 9350-lb GVWR, and Ford's Transit 350 with SRW will go up to 9500 lbs. The 3/4 ton Sprinter 2500 seems a little on the light side for camper conversions, so a heavier-duty SRW option would fill in a payload void.
