So last week I was on my way back from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and I passed by what looked liked an EB 2500 High Roof sprinter van with what I would describe as an extra high loft/sleeping area. We were headed in different directions so I never grabbed a picture. Anyone ever seen a modified room on a sprinter van as described?
Possibly one of the Mega Roof Sprinters used by Fedex and available as a fleet option up through 2009 or so? I believe they are fiberglass and add about 10 inch ceiling height, but probably can't support roof fans, AC, or solar mounts.
Rumor has it the Mega Roof option will return to the US next year to compete with the higher roof Ford Transit.

Did it look like this? If so it could be the James Cook.
I remember looking into those or ones just like them. IIRC, a yellow color scheme and a raised floor in the kitchen area. I also recall a second row bench that turned into a bed with what appeared to be foot space extended into the kitchen cabinets. That could have been a dream though.
Perhaps my eyes were deceiving me as the van, by all appearances, had the same slope as a typical high roof sprinter van except it just looked a lot taller. (Like something that had an upper level bunk.) I browsed around the sprinter-source forums and was not able to find anything like what I saw.
The super-high roof is available in 2015. Maybe it was one of the factory pre-production models on a test trip.....testing the new side wind stabilization/assist feature standard on all 2015 models.
Hey thanks dynaco1! Looks like that may have indeed been it. For all I know, this mod may have been available overseas and this van could have come from across the pond. I found the model and maybe one poor picture of what it looks like from the back on the sprinter source forums.
From the forums:
"A new option for 2015 is D05 (super high roof - unpainted). It is available for 170" Cargo & Crew Vans and 170" E Cargo Vans. This 3rd available roof type adds approximately 5 inches of height to the cargo area vs. high roof."
its not new for USA, It was sold here as a Dodge and FL from 2007 2009 (called mega roof option). MB stopped importing that model during the take over of sales in 2010. Theres lots of used for sale
