Water tank condensation

Am getting ready to replace the water tank that was removed by the PO. Up until this point I have been using bottled water in one gallon jugs. Living in the NW the jugs have a tendency to develop condensation on the outside in the spring and fall. To solve the problem I only put the jugs in the van when I was heading out on a trip. I am wondering if I should insulate the new water tank to prevent condensation from forming on it. The new tank will be located under the dinette seat on the passenger side. There is lots of particle board in the van and I would hate to start growing mold and causing other problems.

Do those of you that have a water tank under the seating have a condensation problem in the spring and fall?

If I insulate the tank what material have you used?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Water tank condensation

I've never noticed any condensation on my water tank, no matter where I've traveled - even in the southeast US. My water tank is under a couch and probably doesn't get much air movement.

Re: Water tank condensation

I get condensation when the temp swings from cold-of-the-night to daytime warmup. Rubber floor prevents damage... I guess. No insulation on my tank, but it is housed in a closed area. Portable jugs get condensation also.

Re: Water tank condensation

Larrie,
I have not really noticed any condensation forming on my water tank that is mounted under my Gaucho. My inverter/charger is also under their and I do plug in most of the time, that may create some airflow because of the fan in the inverter. I am in the Portland area so are locations are close.
