Barn door mystery switch

There's a switch on the front barn door of my van. I haven't been able to figure out what it controls.
Anyone have a switch here? What's it do? My van has an RB50 floor plan built in 2006.

Thanks

Disables the interior lights from coming on when that door is open?

Re: Barn door mystery switch

There was a thread on here somewhere about a switch like that on the rear doors that had something to do with the power door locks I think?

Well, what happens when you flip it?!

SMB can look up your van build by the vin and might be able to clue you in from a note. There is nothing electrical but the speaker in the door, which is easy enough to test. If you don't have a porch light switch on the inside wall next to the smaller barn door that would be the next most obvious. Could be step rail lights.

I give up. Flip it!

Re: Barn door mystery switch

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Oh believe me, I've flipped it...

Porch light- don't have one. Don't have a missing one either.
I do have flood lights mounted to the PH top on the left side and brackets and pigtails on the right (the original owners didn't have an awning and SMB took off the lights on the right when a PO had the awning installed.) The switches for these lights are above and slightly behind the rear barn door, next to my Espar controls. I checked the pigtails with my DMM and this switch does not affect them.

Rail step lights- Don't / didn't have them.
Speaker- Maybe, I'll try it, but I doubt it.
Interior light defeat- The barn door has never triggered the courtesy lights, at least on my van (maybe because that switch is off...?) I'll check this.
Power locks- I do have a switch on the rear doors that does the locks, but this isn't that.

I have the build sheet and lots of info. I did check and all options are accounted for. I sure wish I had a wiring diagram, for more reasons than this...

One thing I haven't done is remove the switch to see if it's even wired. I've certainly been guilty of filling a hole with a switch, maybe that's what this is.

Since it might do nothing, I'll probably just tell my kid that it's the only one he's allowed to mess with.

Re: Barn door mystery switch

On a stock passenger van that's the PDL switch. Your van was born a passenger van?

Hope this helps™,

I have passenger van style windows, but the dealer sticker says "Cargo".

I probably should have mentioned that this switch is a 2-position rocker like all the others SMB installed, and it's not momentary.

What fun! I thought this would be easy!

Re: Barn door mystery switch

Just wait until you try to locate the fuses sprinkled throughout the van. Under the dash, beneath factory trim panels, under the hood, under the seats,... It's like a very frustrating treasure hunt.
