Fridges.. If you had your choice?
Hey Everyone!
Anyone have experience with "other" fridges than what Sportsmobile offers. I have looked at the two they currently offer and probably want to go a different direction.
It is important to us to have a lot of fridge room. So we instantly took the larger fridge option from Sportsmobile. But when I saw it, it really doesn't give you more room than the smaller unit, it just adds in a bigger freezer. So now I am on the hunt for a similar size fridge to their larger option but with actual more fridge room.

Didn't compare the dimensions, but the volume seems right, and it appears to be only a fridge. It is oringinally intended for boats/yachts, so be prepared for some sticker shock.

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
Several of us here have been super happy with the Isotherm / Truckfridge 130 size (4.3 CF).

We rarely have to limit what we want to bring. We are getting ready to start van build #2 and my wife says the same fridge is a must!

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
We used the standard SMB fridge that comes with the EB-51 setup for 3 years. Worked well, but we were often short of room for stuff we wanted/needed to keep cold.
Re-did the interior to make room for a slide that holds a national luna weekender 50l fridge/freezer. We have used this setup for the past 4-5 years.
Much happier with the national luna. Lots of room, top loading and it does a MUCH better job of keeping items cold, or frozen solid if that is what you want. We can also remove the national luna (it weights about 48-50 pounds) and use it outside the van.
Good luck.

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
Rockbender and 86Scotty - I think the Isotherm is something SMB actually brought up too. Did those fit, "basically" in the same area as the SMB fridge? Looking at the EB50 plan...
Thanks for all the input advice guys. I am in the very starting stages of planning. Should be sending over our initial deposit soon. And from there... well lets just hope I don't piss anyone off on here, i'll be looking for lots of help.

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
I keep a chest refrigerator/freezer plugged into battery power 24/7
its a danfoss compressor style like weico dometic 700 bucks but draws very little and when boon-docking the perfect solution and match with my solar panel. 240 watts, it's big.

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
I put ours in the standard '50' layout location:

When we bought our SMB, we ordered the 4CF standard refrigerator but eventually replaced it with a 4CF Isotherm. It fit in exactly the same space without any modifications. We are really pleased with it and am glad we changed.

Re: Fridges.. If you had your choice?
Mine had no fridge (RB10 floor plan with no fridge). I rebuilt my cabinets and added mine in the same location Rockbender did.
