Triton On Demand Water Heater Review......

As many of you know I had the EcoTemp 7 installed for the last 6 months+. It has always given me problems above 5000 feet or so. Installed the Triton version last week and tested it to 11,250 over the weekend and it worked everytime. You get lower temp rise the higher you go but it works.

Re: Triton On Demand Water Heater Review......

Good call gents....

The pic below is of the EcoTemp temporary installation from sometime back. I'll try to get a shot of the Triton in the next day or so. It's installed in the same place and only took a short time to make the swap.

Drove to Bishop this weekend to test it at altitue and get a couple pics of the fall colors.

I tried it as I moved around the area but got the best test of it when I drove up to the
top of the a White Mountains to see the Bristle Cone Pines. That's another story as it's amazining up there! If I remember correct I was getting a 30 degree rise above tank temp. I may have been able to get a lilt more rise but I had the flow rate dial set in the middle of it range and could not easily adjust it the way I had it temporarily installed.

Now that I am happy with it I will vent it to the outside and cleanup the install.

May even work on a return/recycle tube for the times it won't provide the correct rise immediately. And maybe a smaller feeder tank for that.

Took the Silver Canyon Road back down into Bishop which has me now conversing with Atlas Transfer Case about a new lower range unit. Got pricing today and am considering the purchase. Should make a new thread for this but i had to ride the brakes the entire way down. I would have liked to use gearing for most of that and kept the brakes as reserve. Any thoughts on this pros and cons?

Re: Triton On Demand Water Heater Review......

Update, impressed even more with the Triton heater. Previously had installed where I did not have easy access to the adjustment knobs. Moved it around this weekend and was able to test the full adjustment range on heat and flow.

Even at sea level I was not able to keep the Ecotemp lit at low flow and low heat reliably. Higher settings it worked fine at sea level. In an effort to conserve water I been experimently with the lowest flow setting and keeping the water around 100 for the shower temp. The Triton stays lit far better at it's lowest flow setting and even when the shower head is set to its lowest flow setting.

Heading to the mountains today and I will be testing the system at near freezing conditions at altitude.....details to follow.....
