Norcold in its own cabinet...

I am looking at possibly adding a fridge in my passenger van and I was wondering if there's anything special when it comes to building a cabinet for it. I feel like all the cabinet is doing is hiding the sides. Could I just buy a used norcold fridge, build a cabinet to put it in, then install it wherever I want in the van? I've been thinking about getting a chest style, but dang are they pricey!

Yes, as long as the fan/compressor area can breath a little. Larrie added a 2nd fan which improved the efficiency of his a little, if I remember right.

Thanks Eric! I didn't think there was anything special, but I wasn't sure. Seems like used norcolds pop up for pretty cheap, so I might have to make a little cabinet and try it out!

I just did this...Friday, where did he mount the other fan to improve efficiency? I'd do that for sure. Mine runs about 14 minutes out of 40 minutes, is that good or bad? I added extra foil backed 1/2" foam to the sides, and will put some underneath as well, the back has room to breath as well as the top.
