Help! 2010 RB50 Marine Vinyl Floor Repair

So, I was moving a copier for my wife's job…..and it seems to have sustained a minor injury.

There was a sharp corner on the copier that dug into the vinyl, unfortunately ripping it. The piece is still intact and actually looks ok but obviously it needs a permanent repair. It's about 2" x 2" piece.

So, I'm looking for suggestions. Thinking adhesive to glue the piece back down would suffice. We have a rug as well that we normally use but unfortunately it wasn't in the van at the time.

Ideas?

Thanks all!

Not that I wouldn't read all tips here - as many may have "been there; done that," but you might try contacting Nautolex to see if they have a recommended procedure/glue/etc. Presuming the flooring is made by Nautolex (for some reason I feel like it is, but not sure).

Thanks for that. I couldn't find the actual floor supplier via SMB.. I'll check into it.

So that's what it's called? The stuff that comes in SMBs? I've always wondered. I wonder how expensive it is, or how hard to work with?

Thanks Viva

Eric: The "decko-dot" sample that I sent you is also made by Nautilex.....although I had no idea that the newer SMB stuff was also the same brand...

Thanks, I didn't know that either. I really like that sample and also what you've done with it. I think it would work better for upholstery than flooring for me. I've always really like the newer SMB flooring (Nautilex, i guess) but until now I didn't know what it was.

Re: Help! 2010 RB50 Marine Vinyl Floor Repair

Well, like I said, I'm not sure. But for some reason in the back of my mind I thought the "marine vinyl" flooring was made by Nautolex. But I could be wrong. It reminds me of flooring that you often see on pontoon boats or certain runabouts.

I think the "coin" is Loncoin by Lonseal, but it's possible people just call it that sort of like saying "Kleenex" instead of facial tissue.

Re: Help! 2010 RB50 Marine Vinyl Floor Repair

First clean the area to be repaired, the vinyl and the sub-floor . Warm the damaged area with a hair dryer to "soften" the vinyl . apply a small amount of vinyl floor adhesive to both the sub-floor and the vinyl. press into place , squeeze out any excess glue .wipe up any excess glue .make sure patched area is aligned correctly, then place a weight on the area until glue sets up .
