E250....removing carpet and installing Loncoin type flooring

Has anyone here done the swap from carpet to the Loncoin type flooring?

My van is completely built out(RB30 floorplan) and I am trying to think through just how involved this project will be. The gaucho removal/water tank seem like a pretty big project.....

Anyone?

BB

Re: E250....removing carpet and installing Loncoin type floo

I think removing the gaucho would be less frustrating than all the particle board cabinets. But to get the carpet out, I imagine you would have to remove all the fixtures from the van. In my 95 RB30, the carpet was underneath everything.

86Scotty redid the interior of his SMB and would have more insight to just how difficult it would be.

I've thought about this, too, but was deterred because the carpet seems to go under everything: cabinets, front seats, etc. Also, it looks like it is glued down (at least in the cab area).

My plan was to go from the rear doors to just behind the driver/passenger seat.

Our carpet is actually in nearly perfect shape.....but I have my mind set on either wood floors or Loncoin style after seeing a few friends vans.

And I'm about to do it again! Yes, I hate to admit it but I'm serious. I'm going with lincoin or something other than black carpet. It was a big mistake and I hate it. We have a dog these days who's fur is about half white. What kind of planning was that?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is a big job and the carpet is under everything on an SMB but still I recommend just pulling everything and doing it right. I'm holding off til winter on mine. I'll document it of course. It's going to suck and be expensive and time consuming but I will NEVER carpet a camper van again!!!! LESSON LEARNED!!!!!!

Pulling everything out and redoing the floor will give you an opportunity to insulate better and redo any plumbing, electric or layout issues you aren't totally happy with. In the end it will be worth it. It's not hard to find any of the plumbing components to match SMB's stuff so you can patch back up what you have to remove pretty easily.

I had something similar on the cockpit area floor. Got rid of it. Loncoin may be different but mine was slippery when wet.
