2006 Sportsmobile Springs

Had to park my SMB for a week to try and solve the "marshmallow" suspension issues,
Had a local suspension shop check everything out and they recommended new shocks, so I ordered 4 HD BLISTEINS (ambulance/MHOME) from EShocks. I probably should ask for any forum help or advice on how to tighten up the ride. The steering is not loose but it does require constant correction on FWY. Any other ideas? If this doesn't help I may try a steering stabllizer...

Balljoints? I would wait until the shocks go on first and see if that corrects some of the other play you are mentioning.

Re: SOLD - 2006 Sportsmobile For Sale. $26.5K

I believe previous owner replaced them plus both he and I had front end inspected, seller before sale and me last week, at an alignment/suspension shop because I wanted the best eyes I could find to check front end out...they test drove it on Fwy and noticed the constant centering issue and could not find anything to recommend but new shocks, and rotate the tires, thank you for trying!

Re: SOLD - 2006 Sportsmobile For Sale. $26.5K

Some Ford forums mention Hellwing anti sway bars and springs, trying to study how they might help, also trying to do one thing at a time. WHAT TIRE PRESSURES DO YOU ALL RUN? Previous owner suggested 65 front and 80 rear...

Read the max pressures on the sidewall of the tire… before you get in the 80# arena

FWIW.....swapping to new shocks (Bilstein 5160's, all corners) from Ranchos made a tremendous difference in wandering/tracking. Re-arched springs further helped, and then new tires helped as well. Prior to all of that I thought I might need to install steering stabilizers, but I don't think I need them now.

What companies "re arch" springs? Do you remember the total cost? Does it raise the van any? Did you consider putting NEW springs in or adding "helper" springs?

Re: 2006 Sportsmobile Springs

I found a shop in Idaho Falls about 90 miles away from me that specializes in leaf spring repair/replacement. You can search for leaf spring repair and probably find a local shop? Total cost was around $800 for re-arching springs at all 4 corners plus an extra leaf in the rear spring packs. I picked up 2" or so at all corners.

Re-arching will add lift or restore it back to where it should be. Adding a leaf may or may not add lift depending on the new leaf.
