Adding a glove box to an 08 E-350?

I've got an '08 E-350. Big as it is, it would be nice to have some more storage space for all the junk we take along on trips. I searched the forum and came up blank, but could have sworn I saw something about glove boxes some time ago.

One thing that would be nice to have (OTTWBNTH ?) is a glove box on the passenger side dash instead of that blank plastic panel that covers the metal plate with almost nothing behind it.

As I said, ours is a 2008, which means it has the new flat barred grille but the dash is the same as the 2007 and earlier models. Our dash is pretty much the plain-Jane contractor style.

Is there a bolt in glove box set up from Ford from a more upscale model, like a Club Wagon or something? Or did none of them come with glove boxes?

Re: Adding a glove box to an 08 E-350?

I have the same reflection and bought a glove box from the ´09 and up van in the hope it fits in any way......but unfortunatly it does not
i am also open for any input in this. I built some glove boxes for the door panels, so i can store a lot of things in there but i also appreciate one in front of the passanger
here the link to the glove boxes in the door:

BTW i also "create" more space at the dog house. I cut the -for me- useless cup holder out and built in a new basement. Than i built a second smaler tray up on it. It is folding up so you can reach the lower on.

That's really slick! I would have to cut some holes in it to keep a drink or two in place though. In your description and first pic I was expecting a hack job but that's very impressive.

That is nicely done! What did you use to make the black trays?

Re: Adding a glove box to an 08 E-350?

I have some questions, is it on hinges? how does it stay in place? doesn't have a place to prevent your coffee from tipping over while driving? how do you access your coin slots? do you have power running to the hidden compartment for charging phones and such?

I used just what my old sparepart sorage gave me. Some plastic plates, aluminium sheets, wood.... all i found and seems usefull.
The black plastic came out of an old motorbike bag....

no no hings as i want to remove it fast. But i built a mixture of hings and bolts. So i can open it like it is on hings but i also can remove it complete. In the front there is a snap in lock. I will make some more pics as soon i am back at home.
I have an other place for my drinking bottles in the van so that one in the doghouse were useless for me. Even because of the size. My bottles and cups never fit in it well. ( I live in germany). same with the coin slots. For me a useless thing, just good for thiefs to see if it is a good idea to smash the window
I have power running in the hidden compartment, usb and a ipod plug.
pictures came from the time i was builting it. sorry for the slum in the boxes
