Tire Choice and Reviews

My ride (Vantasi- E350, EB) is getting a WeldTec Stage 2 kit in two weeks and along with that new wheels and tires. Going with Eagle Racing rims 16x8, 3.6" BS, -20mm Offset.

Right now it sits on Michelin LTX M/S 2 265/75/16s load range E. These tires are great in respect to ride quality (quiet, run true) and longevity. They have approximately 50K on them with 30% or more tread left. The only complaint would be that they pick up every little rock on a gravel road and fling it against the body.

I plan on going with a more aggressive but not full off-road tire in a 285/75/16 with load range E. The majority of driving is on tarmac but I want a good compromise for gravel, snow, and rocky terrain. I see a lot of BFG AT TA KO2s out there but they seem to get less than stellar reviews on longevity. The Good Years I had in the past where always a pain to balance which makes me think poor quality control.

What tires are you running and are you getting 50k+ miles out of them with proper rotation?

Thanks!

Re: Tire Choice and Reviews

Thanks guys. I actually looked through that thread several times. While it is a great show and tell for all the tires and wheels everyone has, it doesn't give long-term reviews or opinions on tires guys are using or used in the past. If you guys can share that kind of feedback and experience that would be great. Mileage you got out tires. Ride quality of different tires. Traction quality...

The new BFG AT's are super. Have about 5k on them and love them. Much better sidewall, better offroad or in mud but seem very quiet, easy to balance. This is compared to previous version and Nitto AT's.

Re: Tire Choice and Reviews

The Michelin LTX A/T is the same tire as the M/S with a more aggressive tread. And they still wear quite well.

Re: Tire Choice and Reviews

I have about 25K on some Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires and I'm very happy with them. I'll easily get 50-60K out of them based on how its going and they are super quite on the road for an all terrain tire and the traction in rain and snow has been great. Certainly not a rock climbing tire but for your uses they are worth considering possibly. I think they've since updated them and they are now called Wrangler All Terrain Adventure but still similar pattern with Kevlar sidewalls.
