SilVan needs some body sculpting
OK we've had the van out a bit now, and I'm not feeling the luv from other forest users. We just look too much like city people intruding on their territory. We're thinking we need some graphics or something else to make SilVan "fit in" with the truck campers, 5th wheels, 4x4 trucks, atv's, and the occaisional Subaru outback. Same thing in small towns - our van just screams TOURIST.
Any suggestions?

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
Adding some vinyl graphics would be fairly inexpensive. You could buy ready made graphics or design something that suits your interests and tastes.

You might also get some ideas by looking at what others have done. Some extreme examples out there.

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
Not sure if graphics is the answer.
It's true - the grey van does scream tourist, but the black van screams TOURIST WITH VERY BAD TASTE.

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
There's a couple of creative ideas toward the bottom of this thread.

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
Yes we've though about graphics, as mentioned, but most of the ones we though of would just make us look like ELDERLY tourists (like nature scenes/cute things). I do think that camo graphics combined with fake bullet holes would make a certain statement.

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
We Love our Silver van, but that said it sure is plain. Our old 1995 GMC van had two ugly faded stripes painted on it they were like teal and orange and everyone thought it was a cool van. I think the Ford is much nicer to look at but I must be the only one as it rarely gets a second glance. That can be a good thing sometimes I guess. We have thought about getting a wrap or something to break it up a bit but so far have not. I don't think I really care what others think of it as long as we are happy. Where we camp I guess we don't need to Blend In or care if we look like tourists because we usually are.

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
Funny how it goes, but I would love to have "just" a plain silver van. I dislike the usual RV "swoops," airbrush art, and etc. (which I realize is not necessarily what you are looking for either). I knew that I'd probably be getting some graphics, since I was looking for an older SMB/van, so I was just grateful I found one with only a simple, longitudinal, non-swoopy stripe on each side. Whew! But I'd trade for yours in a heartbeat.
Not that I'm saying you shouldn't customize your van, because it's all about what each person wants and likes -- and I'm reading the thread with interest because it's fun to see how people individualize their vans/RV's (like BroncoHauler's )

Re: SilVan needs some body sculpting
Ok, alright. So now we gonna add some stuff that will make your big ol' custom van appear to be like a 5th wheel, slide-in, ATV, 4x4, and the ubiquitous/trustfunder Subaru Outback...
Dang, Bro, I'm thinkin' you could sell your big ol' custom van and get one of each, then folxwoodn b looknatcha... If that's really what you want.
Is that really what you want?
I think your rig rox, just so you know. And if somebody looks at you funny, well, they may be wondering how to get one.
