New Toy
I've decided to inject more horsepower and torque into my motorcycle habit. This is what will be coming home with me on Friday.

Thanks. I test rode one yesterday and was amazed at the improvements BMW has made in the 10 years since they made my current ride. 29% increase in horsepower and a 23% increase in torque. The thing rides like a rocket on rails. 110 horsepower and 89ft/lbs of Tq.
All the bells and whistles are a bit over the top for me but a few of them will be very handy. The tire pressure monitor system and the ambient air temperature readout on the dash will be nice.
I've got the dealer mounting Continental TKC80's on it now. The big dual sport knobbies are rated to a top speed of 99mph. I'm hoping that will keep me from going to fast.

Re: New Toy
Beautiful. I thought BMW switched to semi water cooled for 2013 GS models?

The standard GS 2013 models are the liquid cooled version or wethead as some are calling them. The 2013 Adventure model is still the dual overhead cam oil cooled engine or oilhead. The wethead kicks out 15 more hp and 3 more ft/lbs of torque but it's lacking in several things that are important to me.
The Adventure models typically have more suspension travel, larger fuel tanks, an enduro transmission and a higher output alternator to power all the additional things long distance riders hang on their bikes.
The oilhead Adventure has 3.6 gallons more fuel and an alternator that kicks out 140 more watts.
BMW probably won't come out with the Wethead Adventure model till late 2014 or early 2015. The wethead is a radical change in design from the tried and true dry clutch BMW Boxer engine. I'd be real hesitant to buy in the first year or two of any major redesign. Think 7.3 vs 6.0 issues.

On same page but I would never compare BMW Motorrad to Ford. The Huns do a much better job of designing and testing.
I have an '06 1200rt. Best motorcycle I have ever owned. 65k miles with no issues and simple enough that I can do all of my own maintenance. I'm thinking of replacing it with a 2nd year wethead RT whenever that comes about. It's going to be an emotional day if I ever sell it.
