Roof Rack-Gutter Mounts or Track Mount?

I need help deciding which route to go on a roof rack for my Sportsmobile. Option 1 is a track mount system like they do on truck shells. Option two is gutter mount that bolts to the side of the top. I feel like I want the ability to move the load bars back and forth which can only be done with the track mount. What do you have and why do you like or dislike it?

Thanks

I would go for the tracks simply because it's a cleaner, more modern design. I've had both and both work about the same.

Track mounts means you gotta drill holes in your roof. Why do you think you can't you move the rain gutter mounts back and forth?

Rain gutter mounts on a PH top, which is what I assume the OP has, require drilling into the PH to mount the brackets to support the raingutter towers. Once those brackets are fixed into the roof, the towers really can't be relocated.

Sorry, I should have clarified. The gutter mounts would be fixed to the side of the penthouse top. Thanks for the replies so far.

Oh that makes sense. I was assuming you had a factory roof

Don't worry about drilling into your penthouse top. SMB installs the tracks outside of the canvas sides so it doesn't make any difference if the holes leak water or not...the water simply drains outside the canvas sides. Just use big fender washers on the undersides to spread the load...
