FS: '84 Dodge 4x4 home build $8750 - not a SMB, but...

Howdy all -
I hate to do it, but this project is taking too long and I have to let "Donna" go. She's mechanically tight and reliable, but I don't have time to finish the build out. Sigh.

So here's the details. I've currently got her on CL here in Boise, ID. I'm not opposed to drive / deliver within a reasonable distance for the right buyer.

This is a 1984 Dodge Van with extended body - V8 originally a CA vehicle, so it's a clean runner. It has a lift, 4x4 drive train and a high top as you can see in the photos. I've driven it to Salt Lake City and back a few times, Vegas and back, to CA and back along the OR coast. It's reliable, tight and mechanically sound. Engine rebuilt around 90K, so it's fresh and solid. I have all receipts from work done to date as far as I can tell since new. We have run out of time to finish the project and must sell her. It's a great opportunity to create your own / finish this home build or have someone add in the rest for you. We've camped in it, driven it around town (though it's a bear to parallel park downtown) and had a lot of fun, but don't have the time to finish it right now - our loss, your gain and adventure. Would be a great camper, bug-out van, home-built Sportsmobile-type rig, surf van, Baja traveler or whatever you want to do!

Details:
+ Miles: 114,780 (plus a few) on engine. Regular maintenance done!
+ New rotary fuel pump at 109K miles (I think) - done at Peterson Dodge in Boise ($700)
+ New Big O Tires 285/75R16 tires at 111,209 miles (brand new shoes!) ($900)
+ Brand new high-end leatherette covered folding sofa bed (best foam we could find) ($650) - bins fit great underneath for storage and sofa folds with them underneath
+ Extended body vehicle
+ 2 sky vents
+ Front passenger chair swivels toward back
+ New Alpine Stereo & speakers purchased & installed at Best Buy in Boise 8/13 ($500)
+ All oak interior floors and walls
+ 4x4 van will go ANYWHERE - it runs like a tractor in 4 low.
+ Awning attached for shade over the side slide door
+ Tinted windows (fresh UV resistant curtain)
+ MPG is between 10-13 no matter what. It has a 30 gallon tank, so it's easy to get about 300-330 miles to the tank...but I never pushed it past 310.
+ Reflextix insulation installed throughout (side walls and doors double insulated with Owens Corning EcoTouch insulation as well) for superior warmth - thin about parking for the weekend to ski at Brundage, Targhee, Tahoe, Baker...
+ Steel roll bar can easily have cabinets mounted / storage added, etc.
+ Tyvek lined throughout for moisture management
+ Anti-rust sprayed floor pre-floor install
+ Foam pad below oak floor for quiet and insulation
+ No expense spared on quality of interior materials
+ Sprayed dog house engine cover
+ New carpet in captain's area installed 6/13
+ Set up for 2nd battery option to run your own solar set up or on-board system
+ 2 hatches in rear floor - 1 is for the 2nd battery and wired as such
+ Back benches fold up for storage
+ Table unscrews and turns into a bed - sleeps 4 easily!
+ Surge protector installed for shore power option
+ Drives well and is comfortable on the highway
+ Flexsteel captains chairs
+ Ladder for top access
+ 2" hitch in rear for trailer, rack, towing a boat...

Other things to note in general:
- THIS IS A PROJECT - the interior needs to be finished. Mechanically, this is a solid vehicle, but you can make it your own on the inside. The hard work is done (rust mitigation, insulation, some interior build out) but from above the line of the van / high top, it's insulated, but not finished
- needs visors
- some of the photos are from the build in progress. I'm happy to send more / specific photos to potential buyers
- comes with spare tire
- no back bumper
- bike rack seen in photo(s) not included
- custom front bumper is ready for a wench
- has a/c but it's currently disconnected
- heat / defrost works great!
- always starts right up no matter what, but is a little slow to get warmed up when it's very cold out (below 10 degrees)
- all glass in tact and sealed
- seats are comfortable, but driver's side has a small hole - quote for $300 each to re-do them
- new-ish paint
- up to date service
- email or text any questions

Comes with all receipts, jack, Hayes manual and a few other parts (extra seat belt, tail lights, filters, etc.) and is ready to roll. Also has blueprints for interior options and a spare tire / wheel that comes with.

I have a ton of photos that capture the build in process, too. Hit me with questions, if you need more photos or info. The forum will only allow me to add 3 initially, so I'll put more up soon.
Thanks for looking!

would be nice to put in the asking price rather than making people click-through to the CL ad.

Nice looking van for an 84 Dodge... probably the nicest I've seen for a Dodge.

Care to share any details about the sofa? Did you buy it online or locally?

Thanks

I got it locally from RV Furniture Center in Nampa, ID (right outside Boise). The frame is brand new out of a Ford (either SUV or van...I can't remember) and the cushion and cover were made to spec.
http://www.rvfurniturecenter.com/

These guys are fantastic. We were going to have them do the cushions for the back benches / bed as well, but thought that if we were going to sell the van, someone might not like our choice of cover...zebra print: does it go with everything? HA!

We wanted the storage underneath and the fold out. The van was a challenge with any "off the shelf" sofa or bed situation - likely due to the age / size / shape of the interior, spacing of the wheel wells, etc. We tried to fit about 8 different floor models in there, but nothing worked as well as this. This one's legs are adjustable so it was perfect.
Thanks!
