Re: Selling my 2001 E-350 EB V-10 4x4

A pre purchase inspection by a local reputable shop revealed the following:
-New brakes - pads and rotors - all around.-------------Midas estimate: $945
-Flush and bleed brake hydraulic sys.-----------------------"-------"------: $ 70
-Drag Link @ Pitman arm loose. Replace, Inc alignm.-This shop's est.: $333
-Change Transfer case fluid.----------------------------------My Mechanic: $ 70
-I would also change fluid both Diffs.-------------------------" ------"----: $120
-A/C service - Freon.---------------------------------------------"-------"----:$ 95
-New Van Battery.--------------------------------------------------------------$140
-Replace Passenger seat belt buckle.-----------------------This shop------$220
Add it all up--------------------------------------------------------------------$1993

The estimating shop's prices ($333 and $220) are high, I'm sure it could be done for less.
Please give me a call to discuss this or my van in general. I'd much prefer a real conversation instead of electronic back and forth.

Re: Selling my 2001 E-350 EB V-10 4x4

I just got off the phone with Steve.
He seems to be a great guy that Loves his SMB but needs to move on to something bigger with more room. The truck sounds pretty good too. Steve was very forthcoming about it's good points as well as a few shortcomings. I wish it were in my neck of the woods so I could see it for myself.

Re: Selling my 2001 E-350 EB V-10 4x4

I've got the same year van, but with Salem Kroger conversion.

The brakes might be more of a hassle and cost than the estimate because you may have to do some machining on the rotors to fit, although you may not need to drill a new bolt pattern (like I have to on mine), but check.

Also, my ball joints, tie road ends, and generally the front steering was kinda thrashed, and a big expense to replace. I'm at 85k miles though. Otherwise that year was pretty bomber. Fridge, electronics (except for new batteries) and other stuff still going strong.

I would think that's a good ballpark price; mine has less custom stuff. The extra fuel tank is especially nice. Tires and wheels are meh, but easily customized.

Good luck selling it, should go pretty quick I'd think with those miles.

Re: Selling my 2001 E-350 EB V-10 4x4

Low miles - it spends way to much time sittin' in my driveway!
I will get new rotors from Quigley. They machine them from the original Dana to accomodate the ABS sensors. They are a very helpfull organization, just like Sportsmobile.
I've got the new drag link end, and will wrench it on, than get the alignment, for far less than the estimate.
Like you say, every thing works fine, just those maintenance things.
I've heard alot: it should sell fast, But it's still in my driveway!

The ad is current on CL. Maybe this CL address is no longer valid. Go to CL Denver itself, search for Sportsmobile, and it will show up!
