Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy) *FOUND*

I'm looking for a "value buy", under 90,000 miles and 2003 or newer. The primary requirements I'm after are: 4x4, RB 50, penthouse, and propane cab heater, and under 8 ft. 8 ft should be standard without additional racks on the penthouse top.

Please post any replies or leads you want to share. Thanks!

Re: Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy)

Fit in your garage?
What is your garage height clearance?

4x4 Quigley or SMB is going to be pushing 7.5 ft needed at entrance.

Does engine size matter? IMHO, a 5.4L V8 is going to be your "value buy", the V10 and 7.3's are too much in demand. So if 5.4 is okay, you should included that in your spec.

Best of luck in your search

Re: Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy)

I have 8 ft clearance. The upgraded larger front bumper common on a lot of SMBs won't allow a RB with the swing spare to fit length-wise in my garage comfortably.

I'm open to most engine options and don't want to restrict my buy add beyond anything that isn't a hard requirement. My preferred engine would be the larger sizes (gas or diesel), but price for the whole package ("value") is a bigger deal to me.

Re: Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy)

Budget is somewhat flexible. That was partly why I went for the value emphasis in my OP (original post). But if I needed to be more specific I'd say that I'm definitely targeting less than $45,000. I'd like to be under $40,000. If I found something that was great value I could stretch my budget cap for it.

That's easily doable. Keep looking here, they're popping up everyday.

Re: Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy)

The 03+ with 4x4 will likely be tough to find at the 40-45k range. don't be opposed to a clean slightly older one... I ended up going from looking at 05/06 diesels and came home with a completely decked out cherry condition 02 with the solid 7.3 and low miles too. Ended up @ 52k. Put over 3k on it the last month on 3 trips and can't be happier. Good Luck in your search

Oops. Missed the 03 up part. Still doable I bet, but maybe not so easily.

Re: Wanted: SMB 4x4 RB 50 (value buy)

8 feet of garage clearance might be tight. I have an 08 EB with a Quigley 4x4, 31" tires, and a pop top. Mine was around 95" before I added the solar panels, which brought it to a bit over 97".

The bumpers on the other hand shouldn't stop you because you can resell one or both in a heartbeat, probably get someone to throw in their stock bumpers in the deal.
