SOLD: 2001 Ford 4 X 4 Sportsmobile 7.3 L

Hey y'all. I'm moving to Costa Rica for a while so I'm putting my SMB up for sale. I purchased it this year with the intention of living out of it for a while, but plans have changed so unfortunately it has to go. I recently spent quite a bit of money on upgrades to make it exactly how I wanted it. This includes putting in the best head unit I could find (Pioneer Avic-8000 NEX) along with replacing the LCD tv screen, adding an EDGE tuner, and making sure everything is in tip top working order. Please contact me with any questions. The van is located in Salt Lake City (but has yet to see an actual winter, original owner was in Texas).

Here's the link to the CL ad.http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/rvs/4742100467.html

Feel free to contact me with any questions
Call or text (330)651-2575

Also, I'll donate $75 to the SMB forums if it sells through the forum!

BTW, what do y'all think about this price? I had a hard time figuring it out. The van retailed for $134 k and has since had many upgrades. With the low mileage I figured this was a reasonable price? Any thoughts?

I think that's a reasonable asking price. If I was the buyer, I'd offer 5 or $6k less. The answer's probably somewhere in between.

You have to remember that some of the expensive upgrades that made it just right for you might be ignored or even replaced by the next owner. I pulled about $8k worth of 'upgrades' off our van and junked 'em and added about the same $s in my own upgrades.

Re: 2001 Ford 4 X 4 Sportsmobile 7.3 L

you asked so I will offer opinion.

I think the price to get it sold quickly is about $44K
That is based on a sale just last week for exact same set up on a SMB with just 20,000 additional miles on the 7.3 engine. PM me and I will share where you can see pics of what just sold for that figure if interested.

Having said that you may find a buyer at your price that will pay the figure just to have a bathroom in an SMB....never know.

The van that sold for $44 k that CopesCobra is refering to is similar to my van, but with a fair amount of differences. The main ones that I can think of being:

-That van had 30 k more miles
-front and rear heavy duty bumpers
-winch
-offroad lights
-enclosed bathroom/shower
-generator
-swivel seat
-larger 3 way fridge
-8 batteries in mine (not sure about the other van)
-larger top with quite a bit more room
-diesel furnace
-much better sound system
-7 solar panels
-awning
-nicer tv and almost brand new head unit
-built in air compressor
-lots of other minor things mine has that that one didn't

I have an ad from SMB's old website that featured my fan and they claimed at the time it was the most elaborate van they had created. This thing pretty much has every feature you could want.

Also, just curious if anyone can attest to whether or not its worth it to post it to Sportsmobile's used section. They want quite a bit of cash and I'm not sure if its worth it or not.

I would say no. There are plenty of ways to advertise vehicles for free these days, the biggest, easiest and best being Craigslist, since many people who really want something are savvy enough to use a nationwide search engine like Searchtempest/Autotempest or the like. Just be proactive with your ad and a buyer will surface.

Just lowered the price now that I've had some feedback. I think this is a reasonable price.

Have had some interest but no buyer as of yet. I'm willing to consider reasonable offers to move this thing sooner than later.

I will say that as many times that I've been to SMBW, I'm surprised how many buyers I meet there don't have a clue this Forum or the Owners group exists. I could be wrong but I think many people simply feel more trust purchasing through SMB than Craigs List. Worth it? Don't know. Some probably depends on the vehicle itself and your vehicle is more on the unique side. I don't know if that is a plus or minus in your case.
