SMB Wanted $50,000 Budget

We are a family of 3 with a 2 year old daughter looking to purchase a 2006 or newer 4x4 SMB with diesel engine. We are pretty flexible regarding options/floor plans, however one of the main reasons to purchase a SMB is to make travel easier with our daughter. Making food on the fly, having room to stretch and the ease of camping when tired are all things that appeal to us. We have a 2008 F350 6.4 Powerstroke diesel 4x4 and had a Lance cab over camper that we used prior to having our daughter, but we realized that it wouldn't be practical for our larger family and the fuel economy sucked with the camper on the truck. We live in North Lake Tahoe, CA and can travel the lower 48 if necessary to purchase a SMB. If there is anyone that is interested in selling or know of anyone, please let us know. I have been searching the internet the past few months with no luck!

Thanks for your assistance
Jeff, Jules and Ella

Jeff, your criteria has put you in the 6.0 Liter realm. No 6.4L were putminto the E series. Now love them, or hate them the 6.0 is a polerizing engine! I personally love them, but they have to have been treated right, or bulletproofed. You may be a ford guy and know all of this already, the 06+ 6.0 has a better egr cooler the the 05. IMHO I would broaden your search to include 7.3l engines, and v10s just knowing the scarcity of SMB's that fit ones criteria.
I was forced(not patient enough to wait) into finding a cargo van to convert. Having two little ones, none of the layouts on the market would work with my family. I am now researching( billable hours) away trying to figure out my build.
Good luck on your search!
Morgan

This one popped up while searching this morning. I don't know the seller or know anything about the truck but the mileage is extremely low and it does have the forward facing seat just behind the front seats for the little one. Take care and good luck with the search!

"Thanks for the link. I made an offer on the SMB earlier, but the dealer turned me down. He was originally asking over $60k and has come down to $55k, still over my budget and I would have to add accessories to make it what we would want".

Re: SMB Wanted $50,000 Budget

Hey all, We're still looking for a SMB. I've been searching the internet for the past few weeks with no luck so far. After looking at all the build out packages, we are leaning toward the RB50. We would consider others, however we would like our 2 year old daughter sitting forward in her car seat, it seems safer.

If anyone has any information regarding our potential new ride, please let us know.

Cheers

my advice: patience, and be ready to jump. Nice diesel 4x4's under $50k are out there occasionally, but they go fast.. like minutes or hours fast, not days fast. you might need to take a leap of faith and buy one sight unseen.. so keep searching, you'll find one.. Many here have spent months or years looking.. good luck!

This might be redundant, but have you checked Sportsmobiles' own Previously Owned section?
