ISO: Dana 60 Ring and Pinion 3.73 gears
Hi there,
Im looking for r&p gears for a dana 60 that are 3.73
I figure someone here has done a gear change to 4.10 or higher and has a set that they might want to part with.
Thanks!

Re: ISO: Dana 60 Ring and Pinion 3.73 gears
When I had 411's put in my van, the shop removed the old pinion gear with a sledge hammer, totally ruining the gear. When I inquired about this I was told that some times they get stuck and need to be pounded out. My factory manual says there is a tool for this, but the shop obvously took the quicker route. It's possible this was the front Dana 44 though and I may have a good rear gear set, but I won't be back to check for quite a while. (months) If you don't find one, keep posting and I'll check when I get back. If I do have one, it's yours for the cost of shipping.....................

OT: schluchtenflitzer: Did you see the thread on vacuum pump? Make sure you take a spare serpentine belt driven vacuum pump with you on your African trip. (My last one was made in Bulgaria so just take a little Eastern detour on the way to Gibraltar and pick one up.)

Re: ISO: Dana 60 Ring and Pinion 3.73 gears
OP, have you considered going new. I mean for the cost of the labor (+$200 unless you are doing it yourself) you can get a Dana Spicer ring and pinion with the gearing you want from RockAuto for ~$300.
Is it worth taking the chance installing used gears to save some money now when it might end up being a more expensive repair down the road in some place inconvenient. Just say'n.

Mine were changed to 4.30 right now by John @ quadvan.
I do not know about the condition. And I do not know what John intends to do with it.
But perhaps it is worth giving him a call.
