Homemade bumper

Just ordered a new rear bumper and I am selling my homemade bumper. Bumper holds two nato style gas cans and spare tire. Gas cans , tire and antenna do not go with bumper when sold. Asking $250 , local pick up only.Bumper does need a fresh coat of paint.

It looks like you must lift the carriers over the pin on the bumper to secure them in place. Is that correct or am I seeing the last photo wrong?

That's from the back, so they swing onto the pin which is oriented straight back. Then the cotter pin and what looks like two t-handle posts (screw in to secure). Look at the plates / holes in the picture before last and it should be more clear.

Ah, and I wondered why the filler valves for the air bags were vertically oriented.

Jage is correct the pins are just there as a back up in case the T handles come loose. Sorry I don't have any build pictures on the bumper.As for details I can tell you the bumper is a normal step bumper that's reinforced and trailer spindles are used for the hinges.

I am interested your bumper. I am working on a homebuild and I don't for see an Aluminess bumper in my near future. I think your bumper would be a perfect compromise. I noticed that you put local pick up only. From what I gather, you are located in Glendale Arizona. I live in San Diego. I'd be looking at $250 in gas round trip, which put my total cost at $500. Not sure I could swing that with my wife. So, I am wondering if you have travel plans that would lead you in my direction anytime soon? Any chance your new bumper is from Aluminess in San Diego? If that were the case, perhaps the stars are aligning.

.. just a thought ..

Would the gas/diesel math be better if you drove a 4cyl gas miser to and from Ariz to pick up the bumper? That way you save some money on fuel. Do any car rental companies have a 1 day rental with unlimited miles? Is it possible to do this in one day?

That is a good idea...I wonder if they rent those 3 cylinder Ford Aspires. My brother has a Prius, thanks for the idea.
