Try an appliance store. Not the big box type. The mom and pop type that does sales service and repairs. They should have them.

word to the wise... if it has sand in the drum to even out an unbalanced load, remove plugs and drain sand. otherwise you risk the chance of blowing out sand into unsuspecting faces after people are all shitfaced and not expecting it. im speaking from first hand experience here, no bullshit. we were very lucky we didnt get a eyefull of heated sand. all it did was pepper our faces unexpectidily. somehow we got lucky and didnt get it in our eyes. as of now its a funny story from a drunken night, but it could have messed up me and the wife pretty bad.

that being said, a washing machine drum with some makeshift legs in a parkinglot works great as a heat source. just make sure you remove the sand from the drum before you get a raging fire going first, lol.

Craigslist usually has someone selling them.

Check out Pit-2-Go a collapsible portable self-contained fire pit. You'll have to search far and wide but they are out there.

Wow, folds down to four inches? That would pack a lot easier...

Re: Looking for a as washing machine drum for fire pit

OK, now you guys have me looking for a Pit-2-Go. Why? I don't know, I already have a wood Campfire in a Can, a propane Campfire in a Can, and a washing machine tub.

The Campfire in a Cans are nice, but the wood one has a pretty small fire footprint, and the propane one uses a fair amount of propane over the course of a night (and no propane fire has the same atmosphere of a wood fire).

So while looking for a Pit-2-Go (out of production as far as I can tell), I came across this contraption. Can't find much info beyond the manufacturer's website, so that doesn't instill confidence, and I'm not sure I like it, but it's very unique so I thought I'd post it here. I do like it for the same reason I'm looking for a Pit-2-Go, it takes up a reasonably small amount of space. Made of stainless steel (including the mesh) and brass.

That's the coolest one I've seen, Herb. Thanks for sharing. I don't know that it's $300 cool but cool nonetheless.
