I submitted a post yesterday that I thought would be helpful to members traveling in remote places. It referenced DOTS911. I was told it was a product reference and couldn't be posted.

How is that any different that the product post just submitted by rob_gendreau about TripMate Nano?

I'm not complaining only trying to understand. As a novice user I found the rejection of my post confusing.

Basically, we have stricter standards for new members (3 posts or less? Every member is on probation). We've had a few vendors/sellers misrepresent themselves as just members all while pushing products that they're selling. Unfortunately because of those few bad people, we've had to clamp down. So when a new member's first post is about a product, it sends up a warning flag and that's why your post was likely rejected.

We hope you understand and don't take it personally.

For the same reason, when most people post links to SMBs for sale, they will typically state that they have no affiliation with the vehicle in question (unless of course it is their SMB for sale).

Rob routinely posts information on apps and devices that fit into the SMB lifestyle. AFAIK, they are never items that profit him personally. You might search the forum for his posts to get a sense of what I'm describing and the type (and depth) of response his posts receive. That may help understand any differences between his topics, including the one you reference, and your post. (I didn't see it so I can't offer any direct thoughts.)
