Re: gopro and the red fox

So... a lame question from a non-nature-knowledgeable guy:

What made the fox do that ?? Really. Hunger? Curiosity? ??

Could it have smelled like food ?? It certainly couldn't have been tasty...

Curious.

^^^ quoted from the story...

Quote:
On Round Island, foxes have ample access to food, VanBallenberghe said. Dead voles are scattered throughout the island that he said foxes have killed for fun. The foxes are “so used to going after little things just for entertainment,” he said, that his GoPro was likely no different.

Thanks Shenrie -

I (obviously) didn't read the story - just watched the video. Oops.

Re: gopro and the red fox

lol, no worries. i watched the vid first and had pretty much the same question once it was done...then read the story

ive sat and watched dens of fox pups a few times. not only are they just all around cute little bastards, but pretty dang smart. watching that vid, it almost seems like that fox takes the camera just to mess with the dude. the fox's actions just remind me of big/little brother scenario where one takes something from the other and is just messing it up cause he can, all the while keeping an eye out for the owner of what hes messing up, cracks me up.

Re: gopro and the red fox

I used to work at a public golf course outside of Baltimore, MD. It became pretty famous due to a fox stealing golf balls that landed on the fairway/green. Sports Illustrated even had a small section on it. This is all I could find about it since it happened way before this internet fad started.
