Earliset Ford 4x4 conversion known

This weekend I toured a small museum located in the original Ford Model T Piquette Avenue factory in Detroit that Henry Ford used before he created his famous assembly line.

In this old building on the third floor I found something sure to interest this forum among some very original and early Ford Cars.

This 1914 Ford Model T Station Wagon was converted to 4x4. I don't know the exact story of this woody but a man named Mr. Livingwood made the specialty conversion for these early trucks until 1928. This is of course now a very rare truck. I suspect it is easily the first true Ford Conversion 4x4 and the closest thing Old Mr. Ford built back then to a "Van". The best part was it was leaking oil and appears to be driven occasionally.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures I had a sunset coming through the large glass windows.

Someday, after I convert my van to a chicken coop, I hope it ends up in the 6 Liter PSD museum. A real believe it or not! Very cool pic's - thanks for sharing.

Re: Earliset Ford 4x4 conversion known

Saw something similar in a barn up in Eagle AK this summer. The US army set up this little town as an outpost during WWII, they eventually left the town and abandoned all of their equipment, including an early 4X4 conversion. Will try to dig up my pics.
